Detroit Lions
I helped define the look and feel of the 2024 collection by blending Detroit grit with bold, modern graphics. This meant reimagining classic Lions elements such as Honolulu Blue, Silver, and team iconography. My team made a point to incorporate typography, textures, and cultural nods that speak to the city. I designed apparel pieces including hoodies, t-shirts, and headwear. Each piece balanced athletic heritage with lifestyle appeal, ensuring the collection worked both in stadium and on the street.

Problem
The main challenge was bridging the gap between traditional sports merchandise and contemporary streetwear. The Lions had an established fan base that valued heritage and authenticity, while Sana’s audience looked for bold, fashion-driven statements. Creating a collection that spoke to both without diluting either identity was the central problem to solve.
Solution
The solution was to merge the Lions’ iconic elements, such as Honolulu Blue, Silver, and classic team logos, with Sana’s graphic-forward approach rooted in Detroit’s street culture. By combining heritage with modern streetwear design, the collaboration delivered merchandise that honored tradition while appealing to a wider audience, from long-time fans to fashion-conscious consumers.
Research Points
To start this project I began by researching the Lions’ history and Detroit’s cultural identity to ground the collaboration in authenticity. This included studying past uniforms and fan feedback, while also looking at current streetwear trends and local visual language tied to “Motor City” pride. These insights shaped designs that honored tradition while introducing a modern, city-driven edge.
